What are the health benefits of yoga?

yoga practice

Dozens of scientific trials of varying quality have been published on yoga. While there’s scope for more rigorous studies on its health benefits, most studies suggest yoga is a safe and effective way to increase physical activity, especially strength, flexibility and balance.

There’s evidence to suggest that regular yoga practice is beneficial for people with high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains – including lower back pain – depression and stress

We offer a variety of classes depending on the level of the students and also the purpose of their practice. Some classes are more dynamic and invigorating than others. All the classes are tailored to student’s needs, we also give them enough options to adapt to their posses depending on their body structure and capacity.

We provide all the mats and props needed for each class.

Our classes

  • yoga

    Yoga

These classes will involve standing and seated postures that help to build muscle and strengthen and tone your body. This style helps improve flexibility, and circulation and increases stamina. It helps build heat, energy and strength from the inside out.

  • Yin yoga

    Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a slower-paced, more meditative version of traditional yoga. In Yin yoga, the poses are held for a long period of time (typically three to five minutes or longer) to target the connective tissues (such as the ligaments) rather than focusing on the muscles

  • Dynamic yoga

    Dynamic yoga

Prepare yourself for an invigorating full-body flow where you’ll explore the yoga postures and fundamental principles of Vinyasa Yoga. Our Dynamic Yoga class is set to inspiring tunes and will work every muscle through movement and breath at a moderate, but intuitive pace.

yoga teacher training

Yoga Teacher Training

We also offer Yoga Teacher training on a variety of different topics. Examples of the available courses are:

Myofascial and functional anatomy for yoga teachers

2 hour unit talking about the benefit of myofascial release and introducing techniques to facilitate this type of release

Includes a practice session where trainees can experience these techniques

Also an immersion on what is Functional anatomy and the understanding of the connection of the whole body rather than divided in fragments.

Hyper-mobility and functional integration for yoga teachers

Introductions and opening with some info on the key types of hypermobility and brief descriptions of these (I can provide these) and what they mean in practice for different people.

Include info on ‘degrees’ of hypermobility, and how people with hypermobility might also have tight muscles and might hold a lot of stress in their tissues.

Open discussion about what all of this can mean for teachers in a group class or with a private lesson, and what could be risks for these students (eg being pushed to go further in a pose, or being physically adjusted etc)

Task for small groups to create a short sequence and modify it for hyper-mobile students - to be discussed in large group
